Returns & Refund Policy

01 Overview

Magnat Designs is committed to providing products of genuine quality. This policy sets out the rights available to consumers who purchase from our online store. These rights are grounded in South African law and cannot be waived or limited by any agreement with us.

The "voetstoots" (as-is) principle does not apply to consumer transactions. You are entitled to goods that are safe, fit for purpose, and of good quality. If that standard is not met, the remedies in this policy apply.

02 Cooling-off Period — 7-Day Right to Cancel (ECT Act s.44)

What this right covers

If you purchased online (via our website), you may cancel your order within 7 days of receiving the goods, without providing any reason. This is a statutory right under Section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECT Act).

Product condition on return

Opening the packaging and inspecting the goods — as any reasonable person would before deciding whether to keep a purchase — does not constitute grounds for refusing a refund or making a deduction. Normal handling to inspect goods is your right.

A deduction from your refund may only be made if the goods were used in a manner inconsistent with ordinary inspection, deliberately damaged, or materially altered beyond their condition on delivery.

What is excluded from the cooling-off period

The 7-day cooling-off right cannot be used for:

• Panels that have been cut, trimmed, drilled, or otherwise altered
• Panels that have been installed or adhered to a wall
• Custom or made-to-order products

Refund for cooling-off returns

If you cancel within the 7-day cooling-off period, you are entitled to a full refund of the purchase price plus the original delivery fee charged on your order. We will process your refund within 30 days of receiving the returned goods and confirming their condition.

Return shipping cost — cooling-off returns

For cooling-off period returns (where the goods are not defective), the cost of returning the goods to us is for your account. We recommend using a tracked courier service, as goods are your responsibility until received by us. Please retain proof of return shipment.

03 Statutory Warranty — 6-Month Defective Goods Right (CPA ss.55–56)

What this right covers

Under Sections 55 and 56 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA), every product must be:

• Reasonably suitable for the purpose for which it is generally intended
• Of good quality, in good working order, and free of defects
• Useable and durable for a reasonable period
• Compliant with any applicable standards or specifications

If a product fails to meet these standards within 6 months of delivery, you may return it to us regardless of whether it has been used or installed.

Your choice of remedy

For defective goods, you may choose from the following remedies — the choice is yours:

• Repair: we repair the defective goods at no cost to you
• Replacement: we replace the goods with the same or equivalent product
• Full refund: we refund the full purchase price including original delivery fees

You cannot be compelled to accept repair or a replacement product if you prefer a full cash refund. We will not issue store credit in place of a cash refund unless you specifically request it.

Defective goods returned after installation

The CPA warranty applies even if the goods have been installed. If panels installed on your wall develop a latent defect (a defect not visible on delivery or during ordinary inspection prior to installation), you retain your right to repair, replacement, or refund within 6 months of the original delivery date.

Refund for defective goods

If you opt for a refund under the CPA warranty, we will refund the full purchase price plus the original delivery fee. We will process the refund within 30 days of receiving the goods (or confirming the defect where goods cannot be returned, for example because they are installed).

Return shipping cost — defective goods

Where goods are defective, incorrectly described, or not what you ordered, Magnat Designs pays all return shipping costs. We will arrange collection from your delivery address or provide a prepaid return label.

04 Incorrect Orders

If we send you the wrong product, the wrong quantity, or a product that does not match your order confirmation, contact us immediately. We will at our cost arrange collection of the incorrect goods and dispatch the correct order without delay. Where replacement is not possible, you will receive a full refund including your original delivery fee.

05 Damaged in Transit

If goods arrive visibly damaged, note the damage on the courier's delivery record before signing and photograph the outer packaging and all damaged items. Contact us with your photos, order number, and description of damage as soon as possible after delivery.

Transit damage is covered by our courier insurance. We will either replace the affected panels or issue a full refund — your choice. Please retain the original packaging until the matter is resolved.

Do not discard damaged panels before we have confirmed the claim — we may need them for the courier's assessment.

06 How to Initiate a Return

To return goods under either right, follow these steps:

   Email enquiries@magnatdesigns.co.za or WhatsApp +27 (0)82 065 0261 with your order number and the reason for return. Do not return goods without making contact first.

2. 2

   Photograph the goods

   Send us clear photos of the goods in their current condition. For transit damage or defects, include close-up images of the affected area.

3. 3

   Receive a returns authorisation

   We will assess your request and issue a returns authorisation within 1–2 business days, together with return instructions and — for defective returns — a prepaid return label or collection booking.

4. 4

   Return the goods

   Package the goods securely using the original packaging where possible. For cooling-off returns, ship at your expense using a tracked service. For defective returns, use the prepaid return label or await our courier.

   Refund or replacement processed

   On receipt of the goods (or confirmation of the defect for installed panels), we will process your refund or dispatch your replacement within 30 days. Refunds are made via the original payment method.

08 Samples

Physical finish samples are sold at R75 per finish. Given their low individual value, samples are not eligible for the cooling-off return unless they arrive damaged or in error. Defective or incorrect samples are replaced at our cost within the CPA warranty period.

09 Refund Method & Timing

All refunds are processed to the original payment method (credit / debit card, EFT, or other payment method used at checkout). Processing times depend on your bank, but refunds typically reflect within 3–7 business days of being initiated by us.

We will process and initiate every approved refund within 30 days of receiving the returned goods and confirming their condition (or confirming a defect for installed panels). We will not issue refunds as store credit without your explicit consent.

10 Dispute Resolution

We aim to resolve every return request fairly and promptly. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate the matter through any of the following channels:

11 Governing Law

This policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, including but not limited to the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013. All personal information collected in connection with returns is retained in line with POPIA requirements for a minimum of 5 years.

Magnat Designs reserves the right to update this Returns & Refund Policy at any time. Changes take effect from the date of publication on this page. The version in force at the time of your order governs your purchase.
